The Journal of Business

The Journal of Business was launched in February 1986. It is Inland Northwest's oldest and largest business newspaper serving the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene market area. It is a bi-weekly publication, 26 times a year, and has a distribution of about 15,000 copies. Each print-edition issue of the Journal of Business is extremely valuable and entertaining.

Unlike many business journals the Journal of Business is owned and operated independently in Spokane. It was started by Spokane entrepreneurs and in recent years has been owned by a subsidiary of Cowles Publishing Co., of Spokane. The Journal also publishes a multitude of supplemental magazines and compendiums, such as annual Book of Lists, a Market Fact Book, and Inland NW Homes & Lifestyles magazine.

The Journal has earned hundreds of awards for writing and design due to its comprehensive coverage of business news in the Inland Northwest, including first place for "General Excellence" for a non-daily newspapers by the Society of Professional Journalists and "Best Newspaper" of its size in North America from the Association of Area Business Publications. Furthermore, both the Spokane and Washington state boards of Realtors named it Media of the Year.

On the Journal's website, it is possible to sign up for E-mail Updates which provide breaking news on Spokane companies. It also features the online version of the newspaper including a sampling of the top business stories, as well as information on other resources the Journal offers.
