WA Business News

The goal for WA Business News is to provide news that assists, motivates and inspires Western Australians to do more business.

WA Business News was established by Harry Kleyn and his business partners Vanguard Press as a fortnightly newspaper in 1993. It was the first newspaper that offered the state's business people an independently owned news format designed for them and about them.

WA Business was distributed freely and almost exclusively circulated in the Perth CBD.

In 2000, Kleyn teamed up with new partners in order to bring about major changes at the newspaper. The company relocated to Beaufort Street, began in-house digital design and layout, transferred to color press and changed to a weekly format.

In next two years the editorial department grew to seven journalists, who covered every aspect of industry in WA and offered a news focus unmatched by any other media.

In 2001, WA Business News' events have grown into a major element of the company with market researcher Urquart and followed by a debate on tax-based investments,

In 2002, WA Business News began converting its free circulation to a paid subscription. A high value subscription package was crafted to include discounts to WABN events, the Book of Lists, and archive access online. Finally, in early 2004 the last of the free circulation delivered door to door was concluded.
